45^th Parallel Universe founder Gregory Ewer joins pianist Douglas Schneider in this performance of Edvard Grieg’s youthful Sonata no. 1 in F Major, Op. 8. Composed in 1865 when Grieg was only twenty-two, it was described by fellow Norwegian composer Gerhard Schjelderup as “The work of a youth who has known only the sunny side of life,” though the piece contains darker moments amidst the youthful optimism.
